Mould Flow
Plasmotec knows that our customers require and expect the right product, to the highest standards, quickly and cost effectively. To achieve this we use Moldflow, which allows us to simulate the manufacture of a part from a 3D CAD file without any tooling being manufactured. This ensures that the product and tooling are designed correctly from day one, minimising development times and obviating quality issues.

Why Use Mouldflow? Production Capacity Quality Issue Prevention Plastic Flow Fill Time
Plasmotec's Approach

Plasmotec’s approach is to look at a project in the earliest stages of design and then use Mould Fill Simulation to accurately predict how the plastic will flow both within the component and within the other structures of the tool. The benefits of this to you are that costly design tweaks are reduced or eliminated at the end of the project build. Un-necessarily thick wall sections, sprues, runners and gate sizes can all be reduced as the Mould Fill Simulation gives up front predictions as to the parts fill probability. This in turn allows accurate cycle times to be predicted, gas traps and weld lines to be reduced or eliminated, sink mark positions and sizes to be predicted, all leading to unit cost and quality optimisation and time to market reduction.

Plasmotec’s use of this technology as illustrated here is targeted to reducing new product development times and total project costs over the life cycle of the project. By utilizing CAE technologies we have moved the design of plastic components out of the age of “suck it and see” and into the age of properly focused fully engineered solutions.
